Calenta is a multifaceted and diverse emerging creative collective which seeks to produce live and recorded art taking on a multi-disciplinary approach to work, feeding from our multicultural experiences to conjure up stories in a world where reality and inner workings of the mind as we know it are challenged and put to question.
Six key principles lead the creation of our work; disturbance, flux, culture, research, communication and catharsis. A decade ago Alice and Phill first met and quickly formed a bond over their shared vision of art, theatre and the combination of theory meeting practice. After meeting and collaborating with Jazz, Lily and Meisha three years ago, the core company was born and in late summer 2018 Calenta debuted their opening show ALEXA at the Hen & Chickens Theatre in London to critical acclaim and a five star review and have been working as a team ever since.
